National Trust devises campaign to highlight the great outdoors

The National Trust is encouraging children to get involved in nature and the great outdoors, with activations at Camp Bestival and BBC Countryfile Live.

From climbing a big tree to rolling down a huge hill, sleeping under the stars and making a grass trumpet, children will have the chance to try a number of exciting challenges and adventures, as part of the Meadow activation at Camp Bestival, taking place from 28-31 July at Lulworth Castle in Dorset. 

The activations, which are being delivered by agency Slice, support the National Trust’s wider ’50 Things to do before you’re 11 ¾’ campaign, which encourages kids to explore the outdoors and try new things before they are 11 ¾.

Children will also be able to get involved in nature at the Countryfile Live event at Blenheim Palace in Oxfordshire, running from 4-7 August. The event will also feature an interactive landscaping show that will celebrate the 150th anniversary of the birth of Beatrix Potter and highlight the gift of 4,000 acres of land left in her will to the National Trust.

Landscape artists will build a miniature replica of Britain's favourite view of the Lake District’s Wast Water, as well as a recreation of Golden Cap, Dorset – the highest point on the south coast.
