LONDON - Coach operator National Express has launched a press ad targeting consumers worried by the industrial action coming up at British Airways and Network Rail.

Copy in the print ad, by TBWA\London, states: "Your train or plane may be cancelled, but not your Easter. Go by coach for £5 or less."

It adds that the coach company is operating additional services to "Keep Britain Moving this Easter".

It follows news that rail workers are to go on strike over job cuts and working practices, after Network Rail announced plans to cut 1,500 positions.

The members of the RMT union and the Transport Salaried Staffs Association will conduct a four-day walk out from 6 April, despite pressure from Gordon Brown and transport minister Lord Adonis to avoid industrial action.

Last week Network Rail launched a print ad in the form of a letter by chief executive Iain Coucher, pressuring RMT leader Bob Crow to "talk sensibly" about changes to working conditions.

British Airways, meanwhile, is preparing for a second, four-day strike by cabin crew from tomorrow, 27 March.
