N&P Building Society to open savers account for football fans

LONDON - Norwich and Peterborough Building Society has launched an online savings account enabling football fans to support their club off the pitch.

N&P set up its Club Savers Account with 20 Football League and Conference teams, offering supporters what it describes as "an attractive interest rate" for their account, and an annual bonus that is donated to their chosen team at the end of the year.

The building society enlisted marketing and communications agency WDMP to provide all the promotional materials, including leaflets, posters, pitch hoardings and programme ads for the campaign.

N&P said that each customer would receive a personalised welcome pack once registering, which includes their name on the back of their football shirt, a wallet, a message from their club chairman, and additional information on how to enter club shop offers.

Matt Broekhuizen, group account director at WDMP, explained: "Our challenge was to develop a creative, consistent theme and message to use across all materials which could easily be amended for each club's colours."

The list of participating football clubs includes Hull City, Oldham Athletic, Oxford United, Queens Park Rangers, Crystal Palace, Southend United and Cardiff City, with N&P expecting more to sign up.
