Mystery investor provides new hope for Setanta

LONDON - Setanta could be rescued after an unidentified investor has stepped up with a rescue plan.

Mystery investor provides new hope for Setanta

The pay-TV sports broadcaster is on the brink of collapse and is expected to fall into administration within days if investment is not found.

Reports suggest that ESPN, Sky, Al-Jazeera and the Irish billionaire Dermot Desmond can be ruled out as the investor. It is thought the Setanta brand will be kept intact if the deal goes ahead.

The Premier League is due a payment of about £30m from Setanta and it has so far been unable to renegotiate this payment.
