Music web site peoplesound. com is to be jointly branded with MTV in
”several hundred thousand pounds worth” of advertising for the V2000 music
festival scheduled for this August.
As well as a television campaign, a national press campaign will also
support a competition, which invites the public to select three of the
four bands that will play on the stage by asking users to visit a
dedicated V2000 page on the peoplesound.com site.
Following the launch of a national campaign for the Chelmsford-based
event, peoplesound.com will run a series of 30-second ads on satellite
music channel MTV, as part of a three-month partnership deal with the
music broadcaster.
The site is set to go live at the end of June. Visitors will be able to
download material from each band and nominate which acts should then go on
to play at the event.
The TV ads will publicise a peoplesound.com competition where four bands
from its site will be given the opportunity to play alongside established
artists such as on Supergrass, Moby and St Etienne on a co-branded
MTV/peoplesound.com stage, the second largest stage at the event.
Michael Levine, marketing director of peoplesound.com, said: ”We are just
kicking off our sponsorship of the V2000 festival. As part of the
campaign, we are working very closely with our partners MTV for a fully
integrated co-operative marketing package. This is the biggest such
sponsorship of its kind in the UK.”
