MSN Video goes out in trial mode

Microsoft has launched its UK beta version of MSN Video, with a range of content partners and a new advertising platform for advertisers.

The service has 15 content providers, including BBC iPlayer, MyMovies, the Press Association, Reuters, ITN, National Geographic and AETN, provider of the History Channel and the Biography Channel. The service is accessible through the MSN network and Windows Live, and Microsoft is adopting a time-based advertising approach.

A spokesperson said: "Key benefits of the new model are that consumers will potentially see fewer ads in a single session, and thus will be more receptive to the ads they do see." Three ad formats are available playing either before the video, or positioned alongside.
