Petra Bones has been appointed as head of venues for The Royal Institute of British Architects (RIBA), after leaving her position at head of events for Somerset House Trust.

During her time at Somerset House, Bones secured Brazil's Olympic House (‘Casa Brasil’) for the London 2012 Games and managed London Fashion Week. She previously worked as senior events manager for Madame Tussauds London.

At the RIBA, Bones will be responsible for developing strategy, increasing revenue, leading the venues team and reinforcing the portfolio’s profile.

The RIBA offers meeting rooms, suites, boardrooms and a banqueting hall from its art deco building at 66 Portland Place. It can host receptions for up to 400 people standing.
