Motorola snares ex-Orange chief

Jeremy Dale, the former Orange UK marketing director, has joined Motorola as international vice-president of marketing, working across its businesses.

Dale left Orange last summer following the appointment of former Virgin marketer Alexis Dormandy as chief marketing officer.

He will be responsible for overseeing Motorola's international brand strategy across its four divisions: Connected Home Solutions, Government & Enterprise Mobility Solutions, Mobile Devices, and Networks.

It is understood that Dale has been briefed to raise the profile of Motorola, which is the world's second-biggest handset manufacturer and is best known for its mobile handset business.

Although the role is not thought to be advertising-focused, Dale, who will report to global chief marketing officer Geoffrey Frost, has been hired because of his brand strategy expertise.

Motorola was unavailable for comment.
