Mothercare to launch clothing range in Boots

LONDON - Mothercare and Boots have agreed a deal which sees the children's retailer rolling out a clothing and accessories brand into Boots stores in the UK.

The currently un-named brand will launch in the autumn. It will be designed and sourced by Mothercare in a 10-year profit-sharing agreement with Boots.

The agreement builds on an existing arrangement where Boots sells Mothercare's Early Learning Centre toys in its stores.

The deal is part of Boots' strategy of establishing partnerships with other retailers. As part of Waitrose's plans to expand in the convenience sector the supermarket developed its commercial relationship with Boots in 2009.

Both retailers began trialling product ranges in each others' stores. Boots supports Waitrose with healthcare and well-being ranges and Waitrose supplies Boots with a range of foods.

The two businesses also re-branded the Boots UK-owned pharmacies located in 13 Waitrose stores to Boots Pharmacy.
