Jim Thornton and Ben Mooge created the winning ad "Exorcist", which features a mock scene from the cult horror movie. In the ad, for Observer Sport magazine, a priest tends to a raving, tortured soul who turns out to be the footballer Roy Keane.
Mother and The Observer also scooped the runner-up prize with its ad "coffee order". This ad, for Observer Food, features a man ordering coffee, littering his order with descriptions of the harsh conditions faced by the farmers who produce the product.
There was only one runner- up this month as the judges felt that none of the other ads submitted were good enough to be given an award.
This month's judges were Jaspar Shelbourne of J. Walter Thompson and Ray Barrett of Barrett Cernis. They said: "Although there were some pleasantly funny commercials, 'Exorcist' was the only one that made us spray our coffee. The Observer ads were in a different league."
"Exorcist" was produced by Alana Teasdale through 750mph. Gary Walker was the sound engineer.
"Coffee order" was written by Jim Thornton, Vicky Ghose and Malin Wikerberg.
The ad was produced by Emma Starzacher through Scramble, while Alex Nicholls-Lee was the sound engineer. Media buying for both ads was by PHD.
