Mother and Partners BDDH vie for anti-smoking work

LONDON - Mother is to fight it out against Partners BDDH for the anti-smoking campaign account being run by the British Heart Foundation and the Department of Health.

Partners BDDH is already the incumbent on the British Heart Foundation's 拢4m main account, which it won in November last year.

According to reports, it is on the final shortlist for the new anti-tobacco work and will pitch against Mother. Mother was appointed by the DoH to run an anti-drugs campaign last November.

The DoH has created a pot of 拢15m in funding for the British Heart Foundation and Cancer Research UK, with both charities obliged to put the project out for tender to agencies.

Cancer Research UK is running its pitch separately and is still deciding on its strategy with the DoH.

The DoH announced it had earmarked the funds in November last year, as it unveiled the timetable for the ban on tobacco advertising, which came into force on Valentine's Day this year.
