Mother nets £30m pan-Euro Hyundai

Mother has scooped the £30 million pan-European launch brief for the Hyundai i10 after a pitch against the German incumbent, WOB, the UK agency The Bank and the Spanish agency Revolution.

Hyundai is Mother's first car client and the win will see the agency develop strategy and ads for the launch of the i10 across Europe, working with the company's in-house agency Innocean Worldwide.

Last February, Hyundai announced it would follow the lead of General Motors and Toyota and ask agencies to pitch for projects. Hyundai's lead UK agency, VCCP, was not involved in the pitch.

Last week, Hyundai appointed Interpublic's Initiative to handle its £494 million US Hyundai/Kia media business following a pitch against Havas Media and the incumbent, Aegis Group's Carat.

Dirk Scherer, the ad manager at Hyundai Motor Europe, said: "We have invested heavily in production and design as we seek to grow our European market share. The launch of the i10 is an important part of this strategy."
