'Boxing Academy' is to air on Five from next week and pits two celebrity trainers with five young boxers from the north and south of England, with the aim of training and finding the best fighter among each group. The two finalists then go head-to-head in final live boxing match.
Made by Talkback Thames, the production company behind 'House Doctor', the series will follow the men, who are aged between 18 and 21, through their demanding training regimes as they try to make the grade.
Cameras will also follow the action outside the gym as each group of trainee boxers will have to live together in a flat for four weeks.
The northern group will train in Liverpool with former middle-weight champion Steve Collins and trainer Tony Challoner. The southern group will train in East London with Olympic gold medalist Audley Harrison and trainer Tony Cesay.
Both groups will have the opportunity to meet some of the most famous names in boxing including Ricky Hatton, Nigel Benn and Danny Williams, who recently beat Mike Tyson.
The five-part series starts next week in a 10pm slot with the live match final to be held at the home of amateur boxing, the York Hall in Bethnal Green, on November 15.
All the contestants in the series have had boxing experience.
