Morris will keep his role as vice-president of Carat International and will divide his time equally between the two roles. As president of interactive, he will oversee operations in 22 countries and work on supporting clients of Aegis's two media networks, Carat and Vizeum.
Aegis said that the appointment reflected the growing importance of interactive media to revenues.
Doug Flynn, CEO of Aegis, said: "The interactive advertising and marketing industry has been showing signs of returning vigour and I am confident that Nigel will act as the catalyst that will drive interactive into becoming a significant part of Aegis's media business."
Morris started his working life in fashion and corporate identity and joined Aegis in 1992 as marketing director of the media network BBJ, which was recently rebranded as Vizeum. He was made vice-president of Carat in 1999 and has responsibility for global clients, as well as business development and marketing.
A long-term supporter of interactive media, Morris was a founder member of the Digital Marketing Group in the UK, and was recently invited by Microsoft to share a speaker platform with Bill Gates on the subject of connection with consumers in the digital decade at the International Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas.
"I am passionate about the power of digital media to connect with consumers and I am committed to achieving truly integrated communication across all connection points," Morris said.
