Monocle magazine to open own shop

LONDON - Monocle magazine, which is edited by former Wallpaper editor Tyler Brule, is opening a shop in central London created by its design team.

The monthly magazine launched in February 2007 offering magpie coverage of current affairs, business, design and culture to an international audience.

The Monocle Shop in Marylebone will sell the magazine's branded design products, the result of partnerships with fashion brands including Commes des Garcons, Porter Artek and Drakes London.

Brule, Monocle's editor-in-chief, said: "We've had an overwhelming response from our readers for the Monocle products available at our online Monocle shop and through retailers such as Liberty UK, Beams Japan, Tretorn and our shop-in-shop at Dover Street Market in London.

"Opening our own shop was a natural step for us to create a perfect home to sell our magazine and also specially selected products we feel our readers are looking for."

The Monocle Shop has been designed by the magazine's own design team. It will be located at 2a George Street and opens its doors for business on Monday.
