Disneyland Paris has ended its seven-month search for a marketing
chief for UK and Ireland by poaching Mondex International’s head of
marketing Mark Gordon.
Gordon replaces Bill Jones as managing director for marketing and sales,
UK and Ireland.
Jones left the theme-park operator last November to join the IT industry
after becoming frustrated at working for an organisation run from
Paris.
Gordon started his career at International Leisure Group, which owned
Intasun Holidays and Air Europe.
He left after five years to join the marketing department of electronic
airline reservation system Galileo in 1988.
In 1994, he moved on to Mondex International as head of marketing.
Gordon confirmed his appointment but declined to comment on his future
plans. ’It’s one of the world’s greatest brands and it’s a unique
product in Europe.’
In 1996, Disneyland Paris had 11.7 million visitors, including 2.6
million from the UK, double the number for the previous year.
