In his new role Stoneman will report to Rob Jonas, head of Europe at InMobi, and be responsible for recruiting a new European sales team of 12 to 15 people by Q2.
The European operation launched last summer and claims to serve over 500 million mobile ad impressions a month. Jonas, who was previously Google's director of strategic partnerships for EMEA, has been in place since January.
Stoneman has worked for Nokia for the past three years, helping to launch its mobile advertising network and progressing from leading the UK sales team to heading the sales effort across the EMEA area.
Having originally started his career in journalism as editor of MSN, Stoneman soon changed his career path to work at the media network AvantGo working with publishers, advertisers and agencies. After a short spell with the mobile start-up Refresh Mobile, publishers of the Mippin platform, he joined Nokia.
InMobi, launched in 2007, currently has operations in 37 countries across the world and serves over six billion impressions monthly, according to its own figures.
