At the trade association's quarterly council meeting, MJ Media joined creative agencies Arnold London, Audacity Communications, the Brooklyn Brothers, Dye Holloway Murray and The Lane Agency, to take IPA's elected membership to 267.
Established in 1998, MJ Media used to have strong ties with Total Media before moving to its own office in 2007.
The agency was founded by Martin Jones, former director of CIA Medianetwork, who continues to run operations as managing director, alongside directors Kate Jaggers and Matt Fuller.
The agency employs 17 staff and specialises in the youth and entertainment sectors, servicing leading brands in gaming, fashion and music, in addition to telecoms, retail, sport and film sectors.
Roster clients include Take 2 Interactive, Square Enix and Southeastern Trains.
Jones said: "Being an IPA member will give us access to advice, research and training. MJ Media is now fully independent after 12 years of trading and we are looking forward to being a member in our own right of our industry body."
The IPA's corporate membership handle more than 80% of the UK's advertising agency business, with an estimated value of £17.7bn.
