Miramax signs deal with Mother to work together on projects

Mother has signed a deal with the US film company Miramax that will lead to collaboration on advertising, marketing and entertainment projects.

As well as working with Miramax on its ads and marketing support for films, Mother hopes to gain a foothold in Hollywood by giving Miramax first refusal on its ideas for films or TV shows.

Mother will promote Miramax's upcoming films, including Kill Bill: Volume Two and the Ben Affleck film Jersey Girl. The agreement follows the launch of Mother's New York office last year.

Harvey Weinstein, the co-chairman of Miramax, said: "This unprecedented deal gives us access to marketing strategies as well as ideas for new concepts from some of the most creative people I have ever met."

Mother already has a deal with the BBC to create a one-off programme starring ITV Digital's Monkey character, with the possibility it may be made into a series.

Mother's New York office, which is headed by Andrew Deitchman, has already won assignments from the NBA and Chipotle, the fast-food burrito chain.
