Mini to back C4 comedy drama

Mini has secured its first Channel 4 sponsorship deal, with a six-figure tie-up for hospital comedy drama Green Wing.

The BMW-owned marque has produced 40 idents for use in the nine-part series. The show, which begins on 3 September, has been devised by the team behind hit comedy Smack the Pony.

Idents by ad agency WCRS feature a comedy character called Mini Ha Ha, who is intended to convey the personality of the car. Media negotiations were conducted by Vizeum UK.

Green Wing will target 16- to 34-year-olds, tying in with Mini's quirky, youth-oriented positioning.

In June the car company introduced its convertible model with a £5m ad campaign building on its 'Mini adventure' theme.
