Mindshare won the account, which covers brands including Holiday Inn, Crowne Plaza and InterContinental, in a final pitch against Publicis Groupe's Starcom.

The Aegis-owned Carat, an incumbent on the account, was knocked out at an earlier stage.

The other incumbent on the business, Havas Media's MPG, withdrew from the pitch due to conflict concerns with Accor Hotels in Europe and Choice Hotels in the US.

MPG previously handled InterContinental in Europe, as well as other brands including Staybridge Suites.

Carat handled three InterContinental Hotels Group brands, Crowne Plaza, Holiday Inn and Express by Holiday Inn.

It won its portion of the account in 2006 after a pitch against ZenithOptimedia. PHD was the previous incumbent on the account.

Last year, InterContinental Hotels Group appointed McCann Erickson to handle its integrated creative business across Europe.
