
LBC won Station of the Year (over two million Total Survey Area), Presenter of the Year (over two million TSA) for Iain Dale, and Programmer of the Year for James Rea, while Dan Freedman took home the Ali Booker Memorial Journalist of the Year Award.
LBC's parent company Global Radio also won Radio Station Event of the Year for the Capital Summertime Ball and Station Imaging Award for Classic FM.
Bauer Media won a total of five awards including three for Metro Radio, which got the award for Station of the Year (500,000 - two million TSA) as well as Presenter of the Year and Breakfast Show of the Year (under two million TSA) for Steve & Karen.
Bauer Media's other two awards were for Breakfast Show of the Year (over two million TSA) for Rickie, Melvin & Charlie on Kiss breakfast and Feature of the Year for Jamie's Vegas Adventure on Rock FM.
Absolute Radio won three awards: specialist Programme of the Year for The Ronnie Wood Show; The Marketing Award for the Christian O’Connell Breakfast Show with Wickes, and the National Sales Team Award for its targeted digital offer InStream.
The awards took place in front of 400 guests from the radio industry at the Westminster Bridge Park Plaza Hotel and featured live performances from the likes of Atomic Kitten, The Feeling, Level 42 and The Original Bucks Fizz.
Ben Hart, the head of commercial radio at Arqiva, said: "Tonight was a great celebration of the best of commercial radio today as well as its 40-year history. Well done to all our worthy winners, not forgetting the many nominees that made the judges decisions even more challenging this year."
The awards are organised by the commercial radio trade body RadioCentre. To celebrate its anniversary, RadioCentre also named 40 people who had made a significant contribution to its growth and success at the event last night.
The Radio Advertising Bureau, which is part of RadioCentre, revealed 40 milestone radio ads yesterday, as part of the 40th celebrations.
