The six remaining contestants (five after last night's heat) cooked a variety of dishes for 230 guests that included two Supreme Court Judges, three Lord Justices, four High Court Judges and 26 QCs.

Under the guidance of head chef Ian Overall the contestants spent eight hours preparing the menu, which included stuffed filet of sole, roasted fillet of beef and a trio of desserts, working in pairs.

They also faced a number of challenges, not least to meet the exacting standards of one of London's finest dining venues.

Colin Davidson, director of catering and marketing at Middle Temple Hall said: "It was an interesting experience for myself and the team, and there were certainly a few nervous moments."
