Microsoft cuts price of its Xbox 360 Elite console

LONDON - Microsoft has slashed the price of its Xbox 360 Elite console in a bid to boost sales.

The company has cut the price by around £30 to £199. However, the Arcade version will go up in price to £159.

The move comes ahead of rival Sony's launch of the new-look PlayStation Slim, which will cost £249, less than any previous PS3 console. It launches on the 1 September.

The Xbox 360 Elite features a 120GB hard drive and has access to Sky's catch-up television service, Sky Player, Twitter and Facebook.
