The move, which is part of a roster consolidation and cost-saving measure, leaves MRM only handling work on a project basis.

Gayle Troberman, general manager of advertising and customer engagement at Microsoft, said  "In an ongoing effort to identify business efficiencies and deliver shareholder value, Microsoft has chosen to move to one global agency of record for its relationship-marketing efforts."

From July Wunderman will act as the lead agency on the account, but it is not yet known what role the agency's office in London will hold.
