MG OMD picks up Dubai hotel account

Manning Gottlieb OMD has won the £500,000 account for the Jumeirah Hotels chain in the UK.

The Dubai-based chain, established in 1997, owns two British hotels - the 5-star Jumeirah Carlton Tower and the 4-star Jumeirah Lowndes hotel, both in west London.

MG OMD will be tasked with keeping the chain in the forefront of visitors' minds against competition from larger chains such as Hilton, Marriot and Le Meridien. Media activity will mainly centre around upmarket print leisure titles.

The appointment of MG OMD is part of an ambitious new strategy to establish the Jumeirah brand both in the UK and under an integrated structure with branding on a worldwide basis. The new strategy was introduced by Gerald Lawless, who was named CEO for the group in June 2005. The chain's global portfolio includes the Burj Al Arab, Madinat Jumeirah and Jumeirah Beach hotels in the United Arab Emirates and the Jumeirah Essex House hotel in New York.
