Ecovelocity, to be held at an as-yet-unnamed location in London, will be family themed and give visitors the opportunity to test low-emission vehicles.

Exhibitors will include Ford, Vauxhall, Volkswagen, Honda, Mitsubishi, Kia, Peugeot, Citroen, Seat, Hyundai and Renault.

Family activities at the festival will include a Seat young drivers programme for 11 to 16 year-olds, the What Car? catwalk parade and the Honda "my first licence" introduction to motorcycling for young children.

"There has been a gap in the market for an event aimed at city dwellers that showcases low-carbon vehicles. We know Metro readers are car owners with urban-specific needs, so we wanted to bring them a show that would engage, entertain and inform them about the wealth of new vehicle options now coming into the market," said Metro managing director Linda Grant.

"This will be a dynamic festival of motoring packed with the latest no-compromise, hi-tech and ultra low-carbon motor vehicles."

Ecovelocity will take place from Thursday 8 to Sunday 11 September,
