The new edition of the Associated Newspapers title will launch on September 11 and be distributed at stations between the seaside city and London including Brighton, Hove, Preston Park, Hassocks, Burgess Hill, Purley, Haywards Heath, Shoreham, Worthing, and Lewes.
The launch is being handled in collaboration with Brighton-based publisher Medialab, which is handling regional advertising in the edition.
A Medialab spokeswoman said that although the separate edition will have different local advertising, the editorial content will be unaltered. The London edition of the paper has a focus on national and international news and sport.
The edition, which will be available each weekday from 6am to 10am, will also be placed in buses in and around Brighton.
The edition's main rival for advertisers seeking the lucrative commuter market is the free daily version of local daily paper The Argus, called Argus Lite, which is published by Newsquest.
This launched in February this year with a similar focus on national and international stories but with a small section of stories local to Brighton.
Steve Auckland, Metro managing director, said: "Brighton is one of the UK's most vibrant business and entertainment centres with lots of urbanites who enjoy all that London has to offer."
