Associated Newspapers' free daily, Metro, has appointed Becky Smith
to its senior management team as the head of planning.
Smith fills the slot vacated by Linda Grant, who was promoted to the
newly created position of marketing director six months ago with a brief
to push the title to national advertisers.
Reporting to Grant, Smith will work alongside a management team of three
others - the head of trading, Ben Davey, the head of brand group, Justin
Farnan, and the head of partner services, Liza Wooderson.
Smith will be responsible for developing Metro's planning sales approach
to agencies at a strategic level. She said: "I am very excited by my new
role. Metro has been a phenomenon in the media world and I couldn't
resist the opportunity to work with such a vibrant brand."
Before joining Metro, Smith was the European media director at OMD
Europe, where she co-ordinated the media planning for Nissan across the
region. Before that, she worked at Manning Gottlieb Media on accounts
including Virgin One, Fuji Film and Nissan GB.
