Taking place on 17 June, the event will feature bespoke picnic hampers created by Tom’s Kitchen, featuring homemade baguettes, classics like scotch eggs and desserts.

There will also be wine tastings with experts Susie Barrie and Peter Richards, from BBC1’S Saturday Kitchen, live entertainment from acapella group AfterParty and giant board games.

Inge van Ooteghem, SVP operations at Mercure Hotels said: "Picnicking remains a hugely popular pastime for Brits during the summer months and we hope to see as many people as possible at Somerset House.

For those who can’t make it down, we’ve created a bespoke package that allows guests to visit some of our most beautiful locations and enjoy a specially crafted, locally sourced picnic hamper as part of their stay."
