Men's weeklies suffer double-digit ABC losses

The men's magazine market has been unable to stem a decline in readership. Weekly titles Zoo and Nuts are both expected to post double-digit year-on-year declines in this week's ABCs.

Unofficial estimates suggest that Emap's Zoo will return a 20% year-on-year decline in circulation, taking it down to about 180,000. IPC's Nuts is expected to post a 10% drop, but will still have extended its lead over its rival.

Dennis Publishing's Maxim is set to record an 18% year-on-year drop, increasing the pressure on the title; its deputy editor has just tendered her resignation. The title is facing a further decline of 15,000 in its next ABC period, following the sale of Maxim worldwide, meaning the UK edition will no longer be available for distribution overseas.

Last week the ABC accidentally published circulation figures still under embargo. They revealed that Conde Nast's GQ has overtaken IPC's flagship lads' monthly Loaded by about 7000. GQ has a monthly circulation of 127,886.
