The service will allow people to place pictures and tributes on the site. There will be online guest books to allow family and friends to express their condolences and memories.
Each year MEN Media publishes more than 47,000 family notices - including births, engagements and marriages - and 39,000 death notices in the Manchester Evening News and the publisher's weekly newspapers.
Paul O'Halloran, digital sales director at MEN Media Sales, said the service would allow people throughout the world to access information on a loved one and add their own personal message of condolence. Legacy.com is well established in the US and more than 50% of deaths in the country are posted online using the website's services.
The Telegraph launched a similar service with its announcements pages in December.
