MediaVest takes on £5m GHD business

GHD, the haircare brand, has awarded its £5 million UK media planning and buying business to MediaVest Manchester following a pitch against three undisclosed agencies.

Starcom has been appointed to handled media planning and buying in Europe, the US, Africa and Australasia.

Starcom's parent company, Publicis Groupe, also has a minority stake in MediaVest Manchester.

GHD, which stands for Good Hair Day and sells hair products from styling irons to shampoo, is preparing to promote the launch of its Thermodynamics range across TV, press and cinema. The creative account is handled by Propaganda.

Dave Lucas, the MediaVest Manchester managing partner, said: "GHD is a great client for us to be working with. Its success to date as a business has been phenomenal, and we will be working hard with Propaganda to help deliver more great results."

Last year, GHD generated sales of £56.5 million. Its sales this year are expected to reach £72 million.

GHD was last week named as the fastest growing private company in Britain in The Sunday Times Fast Track 100 awards, clocking up 365 per cent sales growth in the space of four years.

Last year, GHD generated sales of £56.5 million and is expected to have sales of £72 million this year.
