Jason Dooris, the UK chief executive of MediaCom's digital
operation, Media.com, has resigned to help launch a rival global
network.
Dooris will work with Geoff Rapp, the former internet communications
manager at Emirates Airlines - a client of Media.com.
Rapp, who left the airline last summer, has been appointed global
vice-president of the network, which is backed by a top-five traditional
media agency.
Details of the new venture are still under wraps, but it will adopt a
similar working relationship to that of Media.com and MediaCom, in that
the digital arm will support the traditional media division by offering
online planning and buying. The start-up will have clients in the
automotive, IT, retail and finance sectors.
Dooris, who also holds the additional position of the deputy chief
executive for Europe, joined Media.com as the managing director in
2000.
He went on to run the division after its merger with the fellow Grey
digital subsidiary, Beyond Interactive, last summer, running a team of
30 employees and handling clients including Mars Confectionery, Procter
& Gamble and Bol.com.
Before joining Media.com, Dooris was the media director at the
full-service interactive agency Organic Online, overseeing the Nike,
Hewlett-Packard, DaimlerChrysler and BT accounts. He also spent three
years at MindShare where he first worked on the Emirates business.
