The win follows a restructure initiated by RBS that has seen a number of Churchill's top marketers leave the company. These include marketing director Nigel Bruce and executive director for sales and marketing Andrew Blowers.
It was reported last summer that Carat could stand to lose the Churchill Insurance Group account following the acquisiton of the company by the Royal Bank of Scotland in a £1.1bn takeover in June 2003.
It was reported then that the most likely destination for the account would be MediaCom, which already handles the Royal Bank of Scotland's £30m media account.
MediaCom has also won the £3m account for food brand Rustlers. It again pitched against Carat for the business. MindShare was not asked to repitch.
MediaCom's first task for Rustlers will be to plan and buy a television, outdoor, radio and print ad campaign. It is due to break earlier this year.
