Olivia Makey studied French and business at Newcastle University and worked at JCDecaux where she cut her teeth in media. With a passion for planning and strategy, she joined Spark Foundry and progressed quickly through the ranks, working on campaigns for Clarins and Asda.
Outside of her day job, Makey is an active member of the Firestarters, a Spark initiative that focuses on mental wellbeing, and a founding member of Reverse Mentor scheme, which matches members of the leadership team with an employee of an ethnic minority to ensure D&I is top of mind for the agency. Makey’s aim for 2022 and beyond is to grow the Reverse Mentor scheme within the agency to get as many people involved as possible and to continue to champion DE&I and mental health, particularly in light of the long hours and stress associated with the industry.
Judges said: “Makey has clear drive and she’s pushing a lot over the line for her team; she’ll have an exciting future ahead and has made great achievements in a short space of time.”
