Media Square grows with Coutts acquisition

Media Square, the ambitious marketing services company, plans to make more acquisitions after doubling in size through the 拢22m takeover of rival firm Coutts.

Having doubled the market capitalisation of Media Square this year 鈥 it should be around 拢50m once the Coutts deal is complete 鈥 CEO Jeremy Middleton said his next aim is to reach the 拢100m landmark.

He said that Media Square would hit the acquisition trail again once this deal and the acquisition of Clark McKay Walpole on 1 September had been absorbed. 鈥淲e鈥檝e given ourselves 12 months [to integrate the acquisitions], although we like to think that we could do it quicker than that.鈥

He said that further acquisitions would have to fit in Media Square鈥檚 two divisions and added that the group had already identified possible deals. 鈥淭here are opportunities if one thinks laterally.鈥

Middleton also said that Coutts鈥 packaging business is 鈥渧ery much non-core鈥 and would probably be sold within the next 12 months. Coutts Packaging produced turnover of 拢8.9m for 2003 and operating profit of 拢203,000. Coutts specialises in providing in-store marketing and promotions for retailers.
