Media News: Xfm embarks on brand campaign

Xfm, the GCap-owned radio network, is running its first national brand advertising campaign in a bid to shake off its image as a station that plays only indie music.

The tongue-in-cheek work breaks from traditional radio station advertising, as it does not focus on presenters.

Instead, using the themes that Xfm plays only new music and that children have no concept of old music, the 'mockumentary'-style ad shows children working as Xfm roadies, with cameos by rock bands. Created by Mother, the ad will run in cinemas, on some local TV stations and online.

Xfm, which operates three stations across the UK, hopes the work will help it steal listeners from BBC Radio One.
