Media News: TalkSPORT sues BBC over trailer

TalkSPORT is suing the BBC for damages after BBC One aired a trailer claiming that Five Live had the exclusive radio rights to Euro 2004.

TalkSPORT accused the BBC of 'a serious malicious falsehood,' saying the broadcaster knew UEFA had granted talkSPORT official broadcaster status as well as commentary rights.

Although the BBC agreed not to repeat the trailer, which aired once on 10 June, talkSPORT is seeking damages of £100,000, claiming it had suffered 'grave financial damage.'

The commercial station has invested £350,000 in the rights and the promotion of its coverage.
