WPP's MindShare will take control of planning and buying for The Sun, The News of the World, The Times and The Sunday Times following the pitch, which was handled by the AAR.
MindShare fought off Carat and OMD at the final shortlist stage.
News Group Newspapers marketing director Roland Agambar said while it had been a 'long process', the publisher was looking forward to 'working with a company as diverse as MindShare'.
Richard Webb, the former general manager of News Group Newspapers, originally called the review, but it was then put on hold for several weeks following his sudden departure a month later.
The pitch was part of a wide-ranging review of a number of News International's suppliers. It followed a creative review, which saw the company drop TBWA/ London as its advertising agency for The Sun and The News of the World, replacing it with Euro RSCG London this summer.
MindShare parted ways with Express Newspapers to free itself up to pitch for the News International business.
The changes to its agency roster come as News International gears up for a number of product launches next year, spanning consumer magazines and a free London newspaper.
A new consumer magazine division is being headed by Camilla Rhodes, the former Sun and News of the World chief, and a number of launches are planned, including a monthly homes title called Inside Out.
