Media news: Future prepares debut kids' mag

Future Publishing is putting together a magazine for six- to 11-year-olds, its first foray into the children's market.

The publisher has formed a children's magazine group, whose first launch will be a title for Jetix, the new name for Fox Kids TV.

Jetix Magazine is being produced by Future under licence from Jetix Consumer Products International, a division of Jetix Europe.

The title's debut tomorrow (Thursday) is timed to coincide with the crucial back-to-school period. It will feature posters, puzzles, competitions, comic strips and features based on Jetix TV shows, which include Power Rangers, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and Spider-Man. A cover-mounted DVD will feature two new episodes of Jetix shows.

The publisher said it would announce further magazine deals with brands in the coming weeks.
