The Advertising Standards Authority received a record 14,277 complaints in 2003. Complaints in the travel sector soared by 50%. The most controversial ad, with 475 complaints, was Barnardo's 'Silver Spoon' campaign, which featured a cockroach crawling out of a baby's mouth.
