Media: Honda F1 in web-TV launch

Honda is rolling out an online-TV channel, Honda Racing TV, in a relaunch of its Formula One website.

The website, www.honda- racingf1.com, was created by communications agency Fingal, which was recently acquired by customer publisher John Brown.

The web-TV channel is being launched with a series of special features fronted by journalist and TV presenter Alistair Weaver. Its introduction will provide a unique way of bringing behind- the-scenes footage of Honda Racing F1 to fans, according to the team's marketing director, Alistair Watkins.

The decision to overhaul the site was taken after an audit of rival sites last year concluded they were too similar in content and look. The revamp is also intended to attract an audience beyond die-hard F1 fans.

The site, which will be available in nine languages, will follow the trend for user-generated content by inviting consumers to submit their own F1 movies and images. It will also feature its own archive of more than 2000 images, which fans will be able to download and keep, as well as team news and updates.
