MediaCom (Top) gears up for awards

Bitch hears that those lovely lot at MediaCom have something rather special planned for the day of the Media Week Awards on 27 October (hold on to your hats, Bitch will be out in force at the awards).

To celebrate the publishing industry (thank God someone is), the WPP agency is opening its doors to several publishers as part of its ‘Beyond Print’ event, the brainchild of the agency's head of investment, Claudine Collins.

Bitch is told there will be the chance to drive in a supercar with the tame 'Top Gear' racing driver, The Stig, and play with some boys toys in the 'Top Gear' playroom; appear on a mock-up of the OK! front cover; take part in Good Housekeeping’s Family Fortunes 2011; enter the Empire Movie Mastermind, and win tickets to the IMax and visit the Look Lounge where you can get glammed up for the big night.

After that, there will be karaoke, plus a complimentary few drinks courtesy of Bauer. Not that Bitch is sure that all that careful glam from the Look team won't be ruined by the end of the awards, as she’s been for quite a few years now, and nobody looks that good at 2am.

Which reminds Bitch – those with a strong constitution will be even worse this year, as Bitch hears that the naughty boys and girls at Media Week have managed to get an extended licence at the Grosvenor this year until 3am…oh dear.

Wedding bells

Bitch would like to congratulate one of her all-time favourite agency founders (and former 'Big Brother' housemate) Jonathan Durden, on his recent marriage to new wife Caroline.

Details of the venue remain sketchy (as Bitch was only sent the photo), but JD now lives in Spain most of the year. Obviously Jonathan set up PHD with his partners David Pattison (himself recently married to Maxus CEO Lindsay) and Nick Horswell.

Jonathan is now hooked up with PR guru and regular television "talking head" Mark Borkowski as part of a new PR venture, with former Kinetic and MediaCom staffer (and Media Week blogger) Ivan Clark.

And who said the old boys' network still isn’t in operation?

Anyway, Bitch congratulates the new Mr and Mrs Durden. Health, wealth and happiness to the both of you, darlings. Bitch seems to always be the bridesmaid…

Creighton has The X Factor

For those of you who were wondering at the veiled reference to the "Joe McElderry" at Mindshare in founder of the Lighthouse Company Kathleen Saxton’s My Media Week this week, Bitch has found the answer for those of you who were left in the dark, petals.

Mindshare's Joe McElderry

X Factor's Mark Creighton

The lookalikey of the former Geordie 'X Factor' winner is none other than Mindshare chief operating officer Mark Creighton, who joined the WPP agency in August last year from digital agency i-level, where it looks like he was ribbed mercilessly a couple of years ago when McElderry was competing in the ITV1 primetime hit.

According to one source, "it got referenced day in and day out".
