Music with Mindshare
After Bitch’s report last week that the Mindshare bar is finally up and running, it held its inaugural event this week, with none other than pop star Ellie Goulding providing the entertainment on behalf of new (to the UK) digital music service, Vevo.
The bar was heaving with the fashionable Mindshare types as they all went misty eyed to the sounds of Goulding’s rendition of Elton John’s 'Your Song"', the song choice for the Christmas ad campaign for John Lewis.
Bitch doesn’t want to point it out, but it's a strange choice of song, as the media planning and buying for the John Lewis account, which made the song so popular is actually handled by Mindshare rivals, Manning Gottlieb OMD.
However, the new terrace off the bar is to die for darlings, and seems to be about half as big as the agency itself.
Bitch would give a word to the wise though chaps – when posing with a nubile young pop starlet, always keep your hands where we can see them.
Always take the weather with you
Bitch has been enjoying the weather of late, getting out of the spray booth and topping up her all-over tan au naturel, so was a little bit confused with The Weather Channel this week, who chose to support its launch by giving out free umbrellas to assembled agency folk.
The channel’s team attempted to bring a little sunshine into the hearts of agencies including OMD, Media Contacts, PHD and even tempted Starcom's Chris Locke who always reacts to the phrase "pouring down", but is normally followed by the question, "which pub?"
Spongebob hassles The Hoff
Bitch is loving this series of ‘Britain’s Got Talent’ (despite the fact Amanda Holden has a better wardrobe than her) and especially the increasingly bizarre behaviour of David "The Hoff" Hasselhoff. He didn’t disappoint this week, when he appeared at the opening of Nickelodeonland, the children’s channel spin-off theme park on Blackpool Pleasure Beach, with Spongebob Squarepants.
Trying out all the (knight?) rides, The Hoff was joined by Nickelodeon presenters Jamie Rickers and Anna Williamson, who in this photo Bitch thinks, has just been told that the Hoff is about to sing one of his tunes, which we all know sell very well in Germany.
Alice, what's the matter?
Bitch always knew that the outdoor industry is an unforgiving place, but the guys at out-of-home specialist Posterscope really know how to ratchet up the pressure when it comes to staff misfortune.
News comes to this girl that one executive at the firm had a nasty fall recently while out walking his dog, damaging his leg when he accidentally put his foot down what he thinks was a rabbit hole.
Did the rest of the staff at the Wonderland that is Posterscope gather round to show the individual involved any sympathy?
Not really, the literary lot are obviously versed in the works of Lewis Carroll, as from this day forth, the male member of staff is affectionately known as "Alice".
Fathers for Justice, for the kids
Word comes to Bitch that Birmingham-based commercial radio station brmb organised one of the biggest charity walks for Birmingham Children’s hospital (she may be a hard Bitch, but goes all soft when it comes to sick kids).
Almost 10,000 listeners signed up to walk all or part of the 26 miles around the circumference of Birmingham (hardly picturesque) and raised £414, 815 for the kiddies.
Bitch is as much in the dark as you as to why they felt the need to invite Fathers for Justice though.
