Media ABCs: Music titles lose print audience

Music magazine publishers have come out fighting in the face of significant declines in circulation in the latest ABC results.

Publishers claim that although music titles' circulation is particularly affected by increased use of the internet, their magazine brands are accessible across multiple platforms.

There were double-digit drops for IPC weekly NME, which dropped 12.1% period-on-period to 56,284, while Bauer's Kerrang! showed an even more dramatic fall, dropping 21.6% in the six months to 60,290.

Monthly music magazines also fared badly, with Bauer's Q dropping 13.8% to 113,174, down 13.1% from 130,179 last year.
