Media ABCs: Global concerns buoy news titles

Domestic news and current-affairs magazines enjoyed across-the-board rises in the latest ABCs, fuelled by consumer interest in issues such as global warming.

New Statesman posted a period-on-period increase of 17.8% to 30,036. Editor John Kampfner attributed the rise to the success of the magazine's relaunch in June, which positioned it as a 'treat' for left-leaning thinkers.

Private Eye recorded a year-on-year rise of 2% to 208,979, while The Spectator's circulation was up 5.3% year on year, to 72,034.

Dennis Publishing's The Week also registered a rise, of 11.6% period on period, taking its circulation to 134,803.
