Reid’s most recent full time position was at VCCP, where she was first the group marketing director, and then international business development director, both on a contract basis. She left the agency in June, and has been freelancing since.
Prior to VCCP, she was responsible for new business at 180 Amsterdam, and led the DHL and Sony PlayStation accounts, launching PS4. She has also worked as a global communications director in GlaxoSmithKline’s consumer healthcare division, and at agencies including Lowe, Leagas Delaney and Deutsch New York.
She effectively replaces Sarah Hesz, the former deputy managing director and new business director, who went on maternity leave last year and has decided not to return to the agency. Reid will report into the agency’s chief executive Rick Hirst.
Hirst said: "Nicole joins Mcgarrybowen at an important point in the history of our three-year-old business. We’ve grown, added clients and won awards for our work. But there’s more we want to achieve and that’s why we need someone of Nicole’s calibre to keep driving the business forward."
Mcgarrybowen’s clients include Honda, Bridgestone, Western Union, Mondelez, Branston, Intel, Pernod-Ricard and Fujitsu.
The agency is owned by Dentsu, which in 2013 created the Dentsu Aegis Network and brought together Mcgarrybowen with the global Vizeum, Carat and iProspect media brands.
Reid said: "I was won over by the management team at Mcgarrybowen. There are not many agencies who have accomplished so much in such a short space of time and I’m excited at the prospect of building on that growth with such a positive, smart and genuine group of people."
