McDonald’s UK chief executive and president of North West Europe is set to depart the fast food chain as she takes on the top role at transport retailer Halfords.
Halfords has been seeking a replacement for Matt Davies since he announced his decision to leave the company and join Tesco as chief executive in its business sector last year.
According to reports, McDonald will start her role at Halfords in May when Davies leaves his role.
McDonald said: "Halfords is a business and brand that resonates with me and the UK public and I am delighted to be joining the company."
Dennis Millard, Halfords chairman, said the company was excited to have someone of McDonald’s "calibre".
He said: "We were clear that we were looking for an outstanding business leader, particularly someone who had built and nurtured a culture of customer service and colleague engagement in a consumer facing business.
"So we are delighted to have recruited Jill, who has a strong track record of heading a large, complex, service-led business with great success."
