McDonald's chief to join Carphone Warehouse

LONDON - Dominic Rowell, UK head of marketing at McDonald's, is leaving the company to become UK marketing director at Carphone Warehouse.

Rowell, who is the latest high-profile departure from McDonald's, had been at the fast-food giant for just over a year. His exit follows that of Laurie Morgan, the chain's vice-president of marketing, earlier this year (Marketing, 28 June).

At Carphone Warehouse, Rowell will report to group marketing director Tristia Clarke. He will handle retail and product marketing, as well as brand development, when he joins in January.

Prior to joining McDonald's, Rowell was head of loyalty card Nectar and direct marketing at Sainsbury's.
